[Adapt] [Seminar] TextlessNLP: a choice for low-source languages

Hi Adapters, 

As there are emergent large language models such as RoBERTa, GPT and BERT these days, their amazing performance relies on the large text corpus. However, there are also a mass of languages that lack these resources or even a widely used standardized orthography, like Swiss German. They are left behind by these advanced technologies. 

On the other hand, languages can be learned without text, which can be inferred by the fact that infants learn to speak several years before they can read or write. 

To overcome the barrier of “text”, also for other advantages, textless NLP is being researched in recent years. In the seminar this week, I will introduce this technology to you, including its framework, performance, and applications.
