Weiwen is a tenure-track associate professor at the John Hopcroft Center and the APEX Data & Knowledge Management Lab at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. From September 2020 to April 2025, she was a researcher at Huawei Noah’s Ark Lab. She earned her PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Pheng Ann Heng and Prof. Shengyu Zhang. She received the Best Paper Award at DLP-RecSys 2023. Her ToolACE series ranks first among 8B-scale models on the Berkeley Function Calling Leaderboard, with over 600,000 total downloads, and was honored with the SJTU Top Ten Vertical-Domain Large Language Models Award.

Her research interests lie in large language models and recommendation systems. In particular, her work focuses on: (a) designing AI agents with long-term memory, reflective reasoning, and tool-use capabilities; and (b) advancing next-generation recommendation systems powered by LLMs, with an emphasis on autonomous, personalized agents for real-world applications.
