Dear ADAPTers,

Welcome back to the Spring Semester! Our weekly seminar will resume next
Wednesday at the same time (4:30 pm) in Room 528 as usual. Starting this
semester, we will experiment with a few changes to the format of the
seminar.

1) There will be two sessions per seminar, each taking 30 minutes.
There will be two speakers, each giving 25 mins talk followed by 5 mins Q&A.
Please have good control of your time. Our intention is to give you more
chances to speak. One week before the seminar, two people will either
volunteer or be "volunteered" to give the talk.

2) If you are the speaker, you are free to select your topic: can be
either a tutorial on a technical topic, a survey, your own research update,
or a research paper. If you have multiple topics that you can talk about,
please send an email to adapt to solicit opinions about which topics to
give, one week in advance. I encourage you to talk about things that will be
of interest to most people in the audience. Your goal is to empower the
audience with knowledge, knowledge that they can take home.

3) At the end of each session, every member in the audience will be
required to rate the performance of the speaker using a mobile app (based on
wechat) which we are developing at the moment. At the end of the semester,
members who earn the best scores may be rewarded.

4) All members are required to arrive at the classroom by 4:25 pm. We
need to start the seminar at 4:30 pm sharp.

Thank you and look forward to seeing you next week!

Kenny
