[Adapt] Welcome Back to ADAPT!

Dear ADAPTers,

Welcome to the fall semester of 2018-2019. I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new PhD student Angel, and new masters students Zilu, Eve, Xiaoqing, Sophie and Paveen. Most notably, Paveen is from Thailand and he’s the first ever international graduate student in ADAPT. There are also been a number of new undergrad students who I will introduce at the first group seminar. Our weekly group seminar will be held at 03-517A, as usual, from 5 pm to 6 pm every Wednesday, starting from this Wednesday, Sept 12. Please  be reminded that attendance to the group seminar is compulsory and you are advised to arrive at the the classroom at least 5 mins before 5 PM. For this semester,  we will experiment with a new format, in which there will be two speakers for each seminar. The two speakers can choose to talk about the same topic or different topics. We are doing this to allow for more chances to speak for everybody. The current schedule of talks is attached below. The two speakers should email adapt at cs.sjtu.edu.cn <mailto:adapt at cs.sjtu.edu.cn> (this mailing list) their bio and talk abstract at least one day prior to the seminar. If they are talking about the same topic, one abstract is sufficient. Otherwise, there should be two abstracts. For the speakers, please arrive at the room at least 10 mins in advance to set up the computer and projector.
