Dear ADAPTers,

I'm delighted to inform you that Angel Qi Jia's paper, "Multi-turn Response
Selection using Dialogue Dependency Relations", was accepted by EMNLP 2020,
as a regular long paper. This is the only paper accepted out of 6 papers we
submitted to EMNLP this year. With this paper, ADAPT's research in dialogue
systems has officially broken into the world's first pier! Congratulations
to Angel!

The competition at EMNLP was particularly strong. Given that the conference
introduced a Findings track for the first time this year, many borderline
papers were accepted into EMNLP Findings, which is actually an open-access
online archive, a bit more prestigious than ArXiv but less so than normal
journals. In fact, some papers that could have been accepted to the main
conference might be "kicked" into the Findings. But it's only an experiment
that might be scrapped next year.

Anyway, let's keep up the spirit and continue to do solid and impactful work
going forward!

Kenny
