The title: A tutorial on a few Monte-Carlo Inference methods

Talker: Dr Richard Yi Da Xu

Venue: SEIEE 3-414

Time: 10.16, 13:30-14:30

Host: Hai Zhao

Abstract,

This tutorial will begin by discussing several motivated examples of
posterior inferencing. It then will cover topics including, Rejection
Sampling, Adaptive Rejection Sampling, MCMC, Metropolis-Hasting, Hybrid
Metropolis-Hasting, Slice Sampling, Sequential Monte Carlo. The tutorial
will also extend to some recent methods, including Elliptical Slicing
sampling.

Bio:

Dr Richard Yi Da Xu is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of School @ School
of Computing and Communications, University of Technology, Sydney (UTS),
Australia. He has been research active in computer vision, image processing
and pattern recognition since 2002. His recent focuses has been in the
