Prof. SHENG Bin Won the 2023 Outstanding Contribution Award of Computer Graphics Society

On Sep 1, the 2023 Outstanding Contribution Award of Computer Graphics Society was officially announced at CGI 2023. Prof.SHENG Bin from the CS Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University won the award.

Computer Graphics Society (CGS) was founded in Tokyo, Japan in 1984 by Prof. Tosiyasu L.Kunii. It is an international, professional society whose purpose is to promote advances in computer graphics by exchanging ideas to find innovative solutions. CGS invites researchers across the whole world to share their passion, experiences and novel achievements in various fields like computer graphics and human-computer interaction. The society created several mainstream conferences including Computer Graphics International(CGI), Computer Animation and Social Agents (CASA), and Pacific Graphics (PG). The official flagship journal of CGS is The Visual Computer and the official flagship conference is CGI. 

The Outstanding Contribution Award is one of the highest academic award of CGS. Established in 2020, the award is given to only one scholar a year. The 2023 award review committee was led by CGS chair Prof.Nadia Magnenat Thalmann and joined by experts from Switzerland, UK, Canada, Australia and other countries, who selected the final awardee via voting. The award is aimed to encourage scholars who have made internationally recognized outstanding achievements in the field of computer graphics and related areas.

SHENG Bin, Full Professor at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Electronics Information and Electrical Engineering (SEIEE) , Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He serves as the co-chair of AI Challenges in ISBI 2020, MICCAI 2022, and MICCAI 2023. He is also the Managing Editor of The Visual Computer, and Associate Editor of IEEE Trans. CSVT, The Visual Computer, and Virtual Reality and Intelligent Hardware (VRIH). Prof. Sheng has published more than a hundred technical papers refereed in journals including Nature Communications、IEEE TPAMI、IEEE TVCG, IEEE TIP, IEEE TMI、Medical Image Analysis, and in international conferences such as IEEE Virtual Reality、ICCV、AAAI and ACM Multimedia.
